- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Add melted butter, sugar, eggs, salt, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the remaining 2 cups of flour, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- While the dough is rising, prepare the cinnamon filling by combining brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread softened butter over the surface of the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.
- Starting from one long side, roll the dough up tightly into a log and pinch the seam to seal.
- Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal slices and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cover the baking dish with a clean kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the cinnamon rolls for 25-30 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
- Once the rolls are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before drizzling the glaze over the top.
- Serve the Dollywood Cinnamon Bread warm and revel in its divine flavor.
