Strawberry Moonshine

  • Author: Alex Morgan

Description

Prepare to capture the essence of summer with this delightful Strawberry Moonshine. Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

Ingredients

  1. Fresh Strawberries: 2 cups, hulled and sliced
  2. Granulated Sugar: 1 cup
  3. Water: 1 cup
  4. Grain Alcohol (Everclear): 1 liter (190 proof)

Instructions

Instructions:

Follow these step-by-step instructions to craft your own Strawberry Moonshine:

  1. Prepare the Strawberry Syrup: In a large saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and water.
  2. Boil the Mixture: Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar completely.
  3. Simmer and Soften: Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for approximately 10-15 minutes. This allows the strawberries to soften and the liquid to become syrupy.
  4. Cool and Strain: Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the strawberry syrup to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove any solids, pressing down on the strawberries to extract as much liquid as possible.
  5. Combine with Grain Alcohol: Transfer the strained syrup to a large mason jar or airtight container. Add the grain alcohol (Everclear) to the strawberry syrup and stir well to combine.
  6. Seal and Age: Seal the jar or container tightly and store it in a cool, dark place for at least 2 weeks. This aging period allows the flavors to meld together and intensify.
  7. Enjoy: After the aging period, your Strawberry Moonshine is ready to enjoy! Serve it chilled over ice or use it to craft refreshing fruity cocktails for a taste of summer in every sip. Cheers!
