Oreo Dirt Cake

  • Author: Your Daily Hit

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 packages (3.9 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed
  • Gummy worms for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin by crushing the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using either a food processor or a rolling pin. Save 1 cup of crumbs for the topping and mix the rest with the melted butter. Press this mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish to form a crust and refrigerate to chill.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth. Spread this creamy layer over the chilled Oreo crust.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and milk until the mixture thickens. Carefully spread this over the cream cheese layer.
  4. Evenly spread the whipped topping over the pudding layer, then sprinkle the reserved Oreo crumbs on top. For a playful touch, decorate with gummy worms.
  5. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the layers to set.

Tips for the Perfect Oreo Dirt Cake:

  • For an even crust, use the back of a spoon or a glass to press the Oreo mixture firmly into the dish.
  • Allow the cream cheese to reach room temperature before mixing for a smoother consistency.
  • To make slicing easier, dip your knife in warm water before cutting through the layers.
  • Get creative with the decorations! Apart from gummy worms, consider using crushed candy, chocolate chips, or even fresh berries for a burst of color.
