Heat

Steaming, not a rolling boil.

Honey

Stir until you cannot see it. A lump at the bottom never sweetens the top.

Lemon

Juice in the mug, slice for the smell.

Mug

A mug with a handle. A thin glass can crack.

FAQ

Which whiskey?

Bourbon or rye. An unpeated one stays softer.

Tea instead of water?

Black tea is a fair swap for the water.

Honey or sugar?

Honey. Sugar works if that is what you have.

Nonalcoholic?

Skip the whiskey and it is lemon and honey in hot water. Call it that.
